Test Facility for AI Manufacturing Opens at Georgia Tech

The Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, has expanded its Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility into a larger, artificial intelligence (AI)-focused manufacturing testbed designed to support companies, researchers, and students. The renovated 60,000-square-foot facility officially opened in April 2026 and provides a controlled environment where emerging AI and automation technologies can be tested before deployment in operational factories.

ORNL Prints HIP Canisters

Scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Oak Ridge, Tennessee, have developed a new manufacturing approach that combines additive manufacturing (AM), with hot isostatic pressing (PM-HIP) to produce large, high-performance metal components for nuclear, energy, aerospace and medical applications.

100% Recycled Rare Earth Magnets Passes Durability Test

A team of UK companies has successfully created a full recycling loop for rare earth materials used in electric vehicle (EV) motors — and Ford has confirmed the results work just as well as newly mined materials.

Rare earth elements such as neodymium, dysprosium and terbium are essential for the powerful magnets inside EV motors. However, most of the world’s supply comes from overseas, and recent export controls from China have raised concerns about shortages.

AMES, Barcelona, Spain, has celebrated the official inauguration of its new factory in Wuhu, China. The facility will focus on PM parts for mechanical and hydraulic applications, supporting global markets.

Global Tungsten & Powders, Towanda, Pennsylvania, and investment firm Manhattan Five Partners LLC, have entered into a collaboration agreement to establish a strategic tungsten oxide stockpile in the US. This initiative is designed to support US national security objectives, strengthen domestic supply chain resilience, and reduce reliance on foreign adversarial sources for critical minerals.

IperionX Limited, South Boston, Virginia, has announced the installation of its advanced 300-ton six-axis SACMI PM press at its Titanium Manufacturing Campus. The press significantly increases IperionX’s compaction capacity and the ability to manufacture a broader range of complex titanium components using its PM technologies.
